Mary, Blessed Indeed - Fourth Sunday of Advent

This sermon was given on the Fourth Sunday of Advent, December 18, 2011, at Holy Trinity - Chatham. The Rev David Hyman preached on Luke 1:26-38 and Canticle 15, “The Magnificat.”

As the spotlight shines on Jesus this season, it also shines on Mary. Next to Jesus, Mary is the most significant player in this part of the story. She rightly says of herself in her song that we just read, her Magnificat, “From this day all generations will call me blessed.” Blessed indeed, Mary. But what are we to make of you?
