Liberation, Comfort, Renovation - Third Sunday of Advent

This sermon was given on the Third Sunday of Advent, December 11, 2011, at Holy Trinity - Chatham. The Rev David Hyman preached on Isaiah 61 and 1 Thessalonians 5:16-24.

The promise of Advent is that God comes to his people specifically where we are being held captive, where we mourn, and where we are ruined.

In our preparations for Christmas, it is this time to recall again that the one who has not forgotten us comes to us with a love so strong that it has the power to set us free, to change our mourning into gladness, and to renovate our lives.
