First Sunday in Lent

The first Sunday in Lent is always marked in the Church's calendar by reading about Christ's temptation in the wilderness. Our gospel reading warns us that if Christ underwent tempting and testing, so will we. At the same time, the gospel shows us that Christ is able to resist and defeat the powers of sin and temptation.
