Do not be Anxious
In Matthew 6:19-34, Jesus encourages us to examine the movements of our hearts. Based on the decisions we make about treasure, vision, and masters, there is the possibility we may be anxious. “The birds and the flowers preach to us in our anxiety,” says John Calvin. “They preach of God’s faithfulness.” They preach, “Where is your faith?!”
Preacher's Postscript: One thing I did not say in this sermon but should have was this. Sometimes it is not a choice to "not be anxious." Anxiety disorders are particularly challenging. Medication and therapy are often vital to overcoming them. And that's okay. Regardless of why you are anxious, may the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus, our Lord.
