Lent 2026

Lent is a 40-day season of preparation before Easter, beginning on Ash Wednesday. It's a time to slow down, reflect, and reorient our hearts toward God. Just as Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness, we're invited into our own spiritual journey of transformation.

An Invitation to Practice Lenten Disciplines

How to Enter the Journey

Lent centers on five simple practices:

  1. Self-Examination and Repentance – Take honest stock of your life. Where are you living for self? Where are you distracted? What needs to change? Repentance is not self-debasement. It is about returning to a merciful God for mercy and the power to be transformed.

  2. Prayer – Make time to talk with God and listen. Add a few minutes of quiet prayer to your morning or evening, or try a simple devotional.

  3. Fasting – Give up something that distracts you from God—a food, a habit, social media, technology —to make room for what matters most.

  4. Almsgiving – Show love through action. Give to those in need, volunteer your time, or practice daily generosity.

  5. Reading Holy Scripture – Spend time in God's Word. Read through a Gospel, follow a Lenten reading plan, or meditate on passages about Christ's journey to the cross.

Remember…

Lent isn't about perfection or checking boxes. It's about turning back to God, again and again. You don't have to do it perfectly—God meets you wherever you are. Start with what feels possible. A simple prayer each day. One small act of generosity. A single distraction released to receive peace. The journey leads through the cross to resurrection. Let's walk it together. If you need help connecting with others or if Lent feels discouraging or overwhelming, reach out to our clergy.
