Psalm 121 - Providence

We’re making our way through the Songs of Ascent this summer; Psalms 120 – 134. Compiled together these ancient songs form a sort of pilgrim hymn book. Faithful Jews sang these songs as they made their way up to Jerusalem, the City of God, for holy feasts. It was a dangerous journey.  Psalm 121, today’s song speaks to this. Specifically, it declares that God in his Providence will protect from any danger that comes our way. In light of the tragedy this week in Charleston, SC, it is good to be assured today of God's Providence in our lives.
