Holy Trinity’s mission to internationals here and abroad is carried out through the Global Outreach Team (GO Team) and various small groups and individuals throughout the church. The GO Team consists of those congregants who desire to serve the needs of international individuals and organizations as we join God in His advancing of His Kingdom on Earth, both abroad and at home in the Chapel Hill area.
Through prayer and discussions with Holy Trinity staff, the Global Outreach Team has developed a threefold ministry for our church:
In this ministry, the world comes to us. Holy Trinity believes it is wise to invest funds and time in “sojourners” who are in the Triangle area for educational purposes. We partner with two organizations whose ministry focuses on these international students and scholars.
IV Global Community is a UNC-CH-based missional organization committed to serving internationals within the university. It is part of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.
From their website: “InterVarsity Global Community at UNC-Chapel Hill is a Christian student organization that exists to welcome and support international students at UNC. Our community welcomes students from every ethnic, national, and religious background and provides an opportunity to cultivate meaningful relationships, process life and academics together, and develop Christian faith. We seek to incorporate this mission through community gatherings of international students, fun activities, Bible studies, prayer, and community service.”
IV Global Community has dinner and discussions every other Friday night during the fall and spring semesters. Part of Holy Trinity’s service to their ministry is to sponsor one dinner per semester, where we provide catered food and get to know some of the international students and visiting scholars.

International Friends (IF) is another Christian ministry to internationals attending UNC or visiting as scholars from universities outside of the U.S. IF puts on dinners as well and arranges hikes on approximately alternating weekends. These hikes are one of the best ways to get to know internationals. If you like hiking, consider joining one and discover how enriching it is to get to know these students and visiting scholars. Holy Trinity also sponsors one dinner each semester.
Here is a statement from their website, addressed to internationals, which encapsulates their mission: “We are comprised of several different Christian student organizations who are united in our love for Jesus and our love for people from all over the world. It is our desire that this group would be a practical help for you in adjusting to American life, a way to meet friends, experience myriad aspects of American culture, and help connect you to God if you so desire.”

Holy Trinity supports cross-cultural workers through communication, prayer, and/or financial support. Here are two of them:
Nathan and Vera are with Greater Europe Mission (GEM), whose mission statement is: “A community of disciple-makers longing to see Europe transformed by Jesus.” From their website: “On a continent now considered post-Christian, the people of GEM strive to be a light through transformative disciple-making relationships.”
Nathan and Vera currently live in Prague.

Andrew and Abbie are with Freedom in Creation (FIC), created by Andrew in 2007. Their mission statement is: “Freedom in Creation inspires healthy sustainable community with art, water and global education (focused on organic farming). Through grassroots community development, we empower youth and women with art as therapy and entrepreneurship education, enabling them to bring vital resources to their communities. Connecting development programs with international classrooms, we enrich global education with participatory and service learning.”

Holy Trinity has long had connections with the Anglican church in Rwanda which predate the beginning of the ACNA. Establishing a relationship with several churches in Rwanda was a missional goal for Holy Trinity Anglican Church that was interrupted by the COVID pandemic. However, in March 2026, three Holy Trinity members—Kelly and Sean Butler, along with Nancy Jo Stotts—traveled to Rwanda to initiate a formal relationship with several churches there. The visit was a great blessing and held promise for the goal of an established relationship.
Holy Trinity is aiming to increase its relationship with Rwanda through parish partnerships and support (prayer, ministries, trips, etc.).
