WHat’s happening at Holy trinity

Eastertide Fellowship Hour between services starting April 7:

Church family, please join us for a time to connect and enjoy fellowship with one another during this Easter season.  There will be welcoming hosts, hot coffee, bread & butter, and some treats after the first service (please stay!) and before the second (please come early!).  Parents, remember the atrium and nursery are open during this time so you can enjoy some connection with other adults.  This is an opportunity for us to celebrate the Resurrection for the 7 weeks of Easter and to feast together after our Lenten fast.  Contact Lisa (lisa@holytrinitych.org) with questions or if you'd like to help!

Returning to the Giving Garden April 27th:

The Giving Garden is ready for her second season of fruitfulness! Please join us on April 27th for our first community work day of the season. We will gather at 9:00 AM at Kevin and Beth Higgins' property (241 Windsor Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27516) and wrap up by 11:30 AM. A light lunch, snacks, and drinks will be provided. Please RSVP to Anne Hammond by April 20th.

Men’s Backpacking Trip:

Men of Holy Trinity, join us May 3-5 for a backpacking trip in Pisgah National Forest, southwest of Asheville, for our most accessible route yet--both in terms of mileage and elevation.  We will set up a base camp for both nights and hike from there.  This is an opportunity for deep connection with one another and with God in His creation. More information and registration here!  Contact Shae McCowen with questions.

RSVP by noon on Tuesday, April 30th for Lunch & Required Child Protection Policy Training (rescheduled to Sunday, May 5th):

Both this IN-PERSON Child Protection Policy Training AND Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Awareness Training (MinistrySafe) are required by our diocese every two years for clergy, staff, vestry, plus all who serve with children/youth. RSVP at tinyurl.com/ChildProtectionLunchSpring2024. Contact (nancy@holytrinitych.org).

He is Risen!

Do you love Jesus and children? Are you contemplative, curious, and gentle? Catechists Needed!

In June right here in Durham, there will be a Level I Adult Formation Course to learn to become a catechist! We believe God has called our parish uniquely to invest in a profound, hands-on method for children’s formation called Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) based on the Montessori method. We have seen amazing fruit from this ministry in the lives of our children who spend time meditating on Scripture and liturgy.

This method requires significant adult formation, offered in a spiritual retreat-like atmosphere and like no other  training you have ever done. Participants describe GGS as being profoundly transformational as it deepens and enlivens their faith in lasting ways.

The course consists of approximately 90 hours. It is a big commitment but with an incredible return. Please prayerfully consider sharing your faith as a Catechist!  Is the Good Shepherd calling your name? To learn more, come downstairs to observe the atrium, ask Nancy for a flier, or make time to chat with any of our current catechists: Elizabeth Snoeyink, Brittany Sailer, or Nancy Robinson nancy@holytrinitych.org.

Exam Snacks:

UNC Students are about to start finals and we need your help! The Study Center is looking for volunteers to donate food. Please consider making or purchasing snacks and dropping them off at the Study Center one day next week. This is a tangible way to show Christ’s hospitality to students. Click here to sign up.

Global Outreach Team:

Did you know that Holy Trinity Anglican Church has started an international mission’s ministry known as the Global Outreach Team?  We are in the early stages of planning what this ministry will look like and do in serving internationals at home and abroad. The Global Outreach team will meet on a semi-regular basis for prayer, fellowship and support of the designated missional goals set by the Team.   Please give prayerful consideration to being a part of this new ministry at Holy Trinity Anglican Church.  We invite all who are interested in being a part of the Global Outreach Team to let us know by emailing Don Tyndall at dtyndallunc@gmail.com.

The Parable of the Grain Of Wheat in the Atrium:

With the child we contemplate this parable, in which Jesus Himself says that death and life are intimately entwined. If one keeps one’s life, it will simply remain a single grain, but if that life is poured out even to death, that life will become an abundance of life. To learn more, read this CGS Parent Page. Questions? Contact Nancy.

The Collect and Reflection for the Fifth Sunday in Easter:

"Almighty God, whom truly to know is everlasting life: Grant us so perfectly to know your Son Jesus Christ to be the way, the truth, and the life, that we may steadfastly follow his steps in the way that leads to eternal life; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen." To read more about this collect click here.
